Jake Garrett Speaks Up After Completed Bristol Rovers Transfer

Garrett has settled into life at Bristol Rovers well and is desperate to start games for the Gas.

The midfielder was signed on loan from Blackburn Rovers after collecting their Young Player of the Year award last season and has started twice in all competitions, also coming off the bench in Rovers’ 2-0 loss to Stockport County last time out.

It was the side’s first Sky Bet League One defeat of the season, previously collecting four points from their first two games, beating Northampton Town 1-0 on the opening day before a 0-0 draw with Rotherham United away from home.

Garrett stated it was a tough decision to leave Blackburn but is looking forward to progressing on the pitch.

“It was a tough decision,” said the midfielder. “At the end of the day, I want the best for my career, and Blackburn wants the best for me as well. We had to sit down and see what was best for me this year.

“I did really well last year and won the Young Player of the Year, which brought me a lot of confidence coming into this season.

“But this season, I want 30 games minimum. I know the goals I’ve set for myself. At the end of the day, it’s how I progress, and that’s when I’m on the pitch and playing 90 minutes.”

Garrett made his league debut against Stockport, coming on as a substitute to play the final thirteen minutes.

The 21-year-old was proud to be involved last weekend and stated that he is working vigorously in training to help the team.

“It really meant a lot to me to make my league debut,” said Garrett. “I’ve been working really hard to help the team in the league, and that’s what I’m here for.

I’ve been working really hard to help the team in the league, and that’s what I’m here for, Jake Garrett said.

“I’m really trying to improve in training to make sure when I am coming on the pitch, I’m fully focused, ready to make an impact and do the best I can.”

The Gas have a record of giving young talent a chance in the senior side in recent years, with Elliot Anderson, Jarell Quansah and Harvey Vale all having successful loan moves at the Club.

The proven path of youngsters encouraged Garrett, who has enjoyed his time so far.

“It’s been a good start,” he said. “All the lads are really nice and made me feel welcome as soon as I stepped into the building. I’m just excited to keep going and do well on the pitch.

“Of course, [developing talent] was a big part of me coming here. I’ve played with Harvey Vale at England, so when I saw he came here and did well, it gave me a boost to think I’m coming into a building where they do help players.”
