Mansfield Town In Rivalry With Bradford City For 34-Year-Old Forward

League One striker Jordan Rhodes of Blackpool is attracting interest from fellow League One clubs Mansfield Town and Burton Albion as well as League Two promotion hopefuls Bradford City, according to reports.

Nigel Clough’s side have reportedly moved to the front of the queue to secure the signing of the 34-year-old goal scorer after the player fell down the pecking order at Blackpool.

Burton Albion and Bradford City are also keen according to Alan Nixon, but the Stags are ahead of the race, largely down to their league position.

Rhodes Road to Redemption

It is safe to say the veteran has struggled this season, game time has been few and far between after linking up with the Seasiders in the summer.

He has appeared 28 times, with 21 of those coming in the league, but has only started three times in the third tier without scoring. His last appearance was a late cameo appearance in the club’s 3-1 victory over Exeter City and he was an unused substitute in the win over Lincoln City on the 28th of January.

With Rhodes set to turn 35 in just a couple of days, he will want to make sure wherever he moves he has the opportunity to play regular football.

Mansfield Town’s Inconsistent Season

The League One Lowdown pundits predicted Mansfield would be relegated from the third tier this season, and in the first few months were made to look rather foolish as the club competed in the play-off spots. However, as the season has gone on they have found themselves dropping down the table.

Whilst there is clearly little to no chance of relegation, The Stags will likely feel a little disappointed at how quickly their campaign tailed off. However, the teams are tightly packed and Mansfield do find themselves just seven points of the play-off spots despite sitting in 14th. A good run could put them back in contention once again.
