Parramatta Eels Have Confirmed The Shock Exit of $1.1M Five-Eighth

Dylan Brown has confirmed he is set to sign the richest deal in NRL history, with a $13 million, 10-year deal to leave Parramatta.

The Eels playmaker will join the Newcastle Knights until the end of 2035, as first reported by News Corp.

Brown has told teammates he won’t be at the club next year adding to the pain of Sunday’s 56-18 demolition at the hands of the Storm.

He confirmed the move via social media, posting to his Instagram story: “Hello everyone, I have decided to take an opportunity that is best for me and my family.

“To the Blue and Gold family… nothing changes. I’m locked in for this year and we have a job to do. Love.”

The Eels have also confirmed his exit.

“The Parramatta Eels have confirmed that Dylan Brown will depart the club at the conclusion of the 2025 season,” the club said.

“Brown informed Eels staff and teammates of his decision earlier today.

Parramatta Eels GM of Football, Mark O’Neill, acknowledged Brown’s decision said: “Dylan has been offered what I understand to be the biggest deal in NRL history from 2026 onwards. “Dylan is a class player, we understand his decision to take up the offer and no-one could begrudge him for accepting this opportunity for him and his family.

“Despite agreeing to terms with another NRL club for future seasons, Dylan remains committed to the Eels in 2025 and we look forward to him playing his role in the team for the remainder of the year.”

The mega deal with the Knights surpasses Tino Fa’asuamaleaui’s $12 million deal with the Titans.

The Knights tabled the massive offer to Brown in the last couple of weeks.

Brown had all three try assists in Parramatta’s heavy loss on Sunday, but all of those were when the game was well out of reach as the Eels were blown off the park.

Following the performance, Knights recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan said the team wouldn’t be rescinding or changing the terms of their massive contract offer to Brown.

Brown’s contract with the Eels could have run through until the end of 2031, but because of several get out clauses, the playmaker was able to leave at the end of this season as long as he opted out by Round 10.

While Brown’s departure is a brutal blow for an Eels side who have lost a raft of young talent in recent seasons, the club’s best player Mitch Moses inked an extenstion late last month keeping him at Parramatta until at least the end of 2029.
