Newly promoted Championship side Charlton Athletic have completed the signing of striker Tanto Olaofe, formally known as Isaac Olaofe, from Stockport County.
Charlton Athletic’s club statement read:
Charlton Athletic are delighted to confirm the permanent signing of striker Tanto Olaofe from Stockport County for an undisclosed fee.
“Olaofe, who has signed a three-year contract with a club option of an additional year, becomes the Addicks’ third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Sonny Carey and Thomas Kaminski.”
Emerging through the Millwall youth academy, Olaofe enjoyed four respective loan spells from 2020 to 2022, three of which were spent at Sutton United, while the other was a short stint at Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone.
Earning a permanent move to Stockport County in 2023, the 2022/23 campaign saw him make a small impact in the side, registering four goal involvements in the League Two term.
It was in the following 2023/24 campaign where the centre forward really made his mark, finding the net on 20 occasions as his side won promotion to League One via automatic promotion.
While the step up to League One more than halved the 25 year old’s attacking output, it was by no means an underwhelming campaign, scoring eight times as Stockport County dropped out of the play-offs to Leyton Orient at the semi-final stage.
Play-off winners and newly promoted Charlton Athletic were seemingly impressed by Olaofe’s performances in the 2024/25 term, adding the player to their forward department ahead of a return to the Championship.
Upon signing, Olaofe said: “It’s a great feeling. There’s a great atmosphere at The Valley so I’m looking forward to playing there. Hopefully I can help elevate the team in the right direction because the current trajectory is a very good one.”
