Sheffield Wednesday Owner Receive Feud From Pundit

Dejphon Chansiri has often had feuds, with fans or with the media, with last season being the pinnacle of his highlights.Last season was a mess for Sheffield Wednesday. Even though all is well that ends well, it was a season of calamities both on and off the pitch.

And owner Dejphon Chansiri was right at the centre of it all, sparking fan feuds with his multiple statements and demands of the supporters.

At one point, Chansiri even asked the Sheffield Wednesday fans to split a £2million HMRC bill, which he quickly paid in what seemed like a publicity stunt.

As tensions grew, The 1867 Group was formed. They staged several protests against Chansiri’s poor running, drumming up a large following in the process.

Since, Chansiri has earned praise for his work during the summer. He agreed a new three-year contract for Danny Rohl and put some money into the transfer market, spending £3million on Ike Ugbo.

Carlton Palmer gives ‘kudos’ to Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri

One particular pundit who Chansiri had disagreements with last season was former Owl Carlton Palmer.

Palmer was very vocal on social media in his critique of Chansiri. Then, at Xisco Munoz’s unveiling as manager last summer, Chansiri went on a detour, hitting back at Palmer in what was reported as a ‘bizarre rant’.

Now though, Palmer has seemingly squashed his feud with Chansiri. In a recent interview with Football League World, Palmer hailed the work that Chansiri has done in the past few months.

Palmer said: “There’s been a lot of criticism of Chansiri – and I have been one of them, never criticising him personally, just about the way the club has been run.

“So, you’ve got to give him his kudos for what he’s done, in bringing Rohl in, bringing the players in and backing them.

“You’ve got to give him credit for that, and he ultimately said he wants to take the club back to the Premier League.

“It’s going to take an awful lot of money to do that. There’s so much work to do, the training ground, the ground, there’s a lot of money to be spent.

“With the support, the club belongs in the Premier League, and I hope Chansiri is the man to do it.”

Dejphon Chansiri is moving in the right direction, finally

Anger towards Chansiri has died down massively since this point last season. He’s earned it, too, putting more money into the club and making some smart decisions.

Palmer’s message to Chansiri largely reflects how fans feel about their owner. But like Palmer says, there’s still a huge way to go before Wednesday are realistic promotion contenders.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult for clubs to compete with those coming down from the Premier League each season.

But Wednesday are on track for sure. They need to keep investing, keep building, and one day, they may be sitting near the top of the second tier table.
