Report Reveals Trade Destinations That Would Appeal Hawks Point Guard

Will the Hawks be the most interesting team to watch this summer? One analyst thinks so

Though the talk of the town in NBA circles is the draft, especially in Atlanta with the Hawks slotted to pick No. 1, the club will immediately turn its attention to Trae Young and Dejounte Murray in a few days.

The news cycles surround Alex Sarr and his desire to play for the Wizards, what it means for the Hawks, and which prospect Atlanta prefers, Donovan Clingan or Zaccharie Risacher, if it’s not Sarr.

The NBA Draft is the first domino, but it’s hardly the only one. The Hawks will be faced with a terribly difficult decision to trade one of Trae Young or Dejounte Murray.

One media pundit described the notion that Young or Murray will be traded as destiny.

“They simultaneously have decisions to make with players already on their roster, especially Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, who seem destined to part ways in the not-too-distant future,” Jonathan Givony of ESPN writes.

That leaves Landry Fields and his lieutenants searching for potential suitors, most of which would theoretically be landing spots for both players. The Lakers, Spurs, and Pelicans are the clubs that are most often connected to Young and Murray.

For the first time, we are getting information that the face of the franchise is seemingly swallowing the pill that a trade is possible. According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, three trade destinations — Los Angeles, New Orleans, and San Antonio — appeal to Trae Young.

“The Hawks, of course, are expected to engage rival teams on trade scenarios for both Trae Young and Dejounte Murray throughout this offseason. The Lakers, Pelicans and Spurs remain three destinations that would be appealing to Young, league sources told Yahoo Sports,” Fischer writes.

Earlier in the offseason, Trae Young told Hawks media that he wants to be in Atlanta but wants to win more. It was the first time he even hinted at the possibility of a trade. Now, a report surfaces that he’s even thought about preferential landing spots.

This summer could present the end of the Trae Young era in Atlanta.
